Ikat

Decor Pad
Ikat is an art medium created on fabric. The pattern intrigues me.

{ikat n. : A craft in which one tie-dyes and weaves yarn to create an intricately designed fabric.}
A design I wasn't automatically drawn to in the beginning, ikat has grown on me as no two patterns are the same. Of course, most of the current designs aren't crafted the handmade way.
It has transcended fabrics and made its way to things like painting techniques and wallpaper.

  4. I admit I am loving the ikat craze! so much so, that I really hope it sticks around a lot longer than just a craze. I have a chair I'm hoping to reupholster soon in a pretty cobalt blue and white ikat fabric.

  12. Enjoying your posts on all these design motifs. I've always like Ikat, but herringbone is truly a favorite. The sofa in my first apartment was herringbone. ;-)

  14. What a great collection of Ikat inspiration photos. My daughter has been in Turkey and purchased a LOT of Ikat there. It's being shipped home and I know there are some pieces for me in it. These photos give me some ideas of what to do with it. So beautiful.

  15. When Ikat first came into the home fashion world I really disliked it. Now I feel very different. In small doses, like chairs, I think it's a beautiful fabric.

  16. Have you already done your beloved hounds-tooth?
    I like the Ikat pattern, I see more and more of it in clothing and decor, I like it better each time I see it.
    I'm still at our Ladies Conference, I am finished with the part that I have had to do, now I can just enjoy God's presence.

  17. Like you, I wasn't a fan of the ikat pattern pattern when I first saw it. Now, I am a fan especially the pattern of the chairs in the last image!

    Have a lovely weekend!
