See You Later

Via

Hope all of you are enjoying the summer! Thanks for the comments and emails while I was on vacation.
Here's an update-
We have moved into a small apartment. My youngest thought we were in a hotel a few days until he realized there was no maid service. It has been an adjustment to say the least. However, downsizing is not so bad. We do miss our house though. (I'm currently listening to my upstairs neighbor exercise, hoping the ceiling doesn't fall in.)

The big news is...I'm now employed. No more lazy days at the computer. My life has undergone a major change. I will be teaching Pre-K this year. It's a new program for the school which means more work for me. Suddenly my life has gone from looking at pretty vignettes and beautiful living spaces to cutesy classroom stuff. To be honest, I'm already getting a little bored with it. But things will liven up when school starts. Can't wait to meet their smiling little faces.

Unfortunately, this is not my room. It's from Melanie at School Girl Style, a blog that satisfies a little bit of my decor addiction while working.

From time to time, I suffer from the "white picket fence syndrome." You know, the perfect little life thought.
Don't ask me why it returns. It was really supposed to be put to rest when I was 20 and naive. But I'm certainly not complaining. Life is far better than it was then.
Through all of this, I'm learning that temporary really is a way of life. Even when you are settled, it's just temporary. Live in the moment because tomorrow it may change.
My current moment status is- no free time. It will surely change when the dust settles and routines are established. I just can't say when.
So, it's goodbye for now my friends. Or more like, see you later...

  1. I have been rather MIA myself lately. Too many loose ends that needed tied up. I was feeling rather frazzled. Then we had to open up our cottage, went to Boston and area for a few days...

I wish you the best of success in your endeavors! By the way, love the pics.!

I would love to keep in touch with you if you have time. You were the very first blogger I "talked" to and I have always treasured your friendship and counted on your level-headed opinions. 8. Wow, Tammy! How EXCITING for you, is my first thought! Congrats on the new job. I think I've been looking forward to working for awhile now...but I still have two more years. I just dabble in my antique shop here just to keep my mind busy.

Can't wait til you come back and don't worry, your bloggy pals will still be here. Enjoy your new endeavors!

  9. Congrats on the new job. You will have your hands very full. I hope you don't have to be in an apartment for long. I can't even imagine what it would be like to teach Pre-K. Hope you blog again soon.

  10. Tammy, it's great to see a post from you ... even if it evokes mixed feelings. Of course, you'll be missed when you're not here, but I am so very thankful for God's provision for your family, and I know you will be an answer to prayer for some of your students' parents.

I think "living in the moment" is something we all have to learn -- and re-learn. I'm currently reading Ann Voskamp's One Thousand Gifts, and being thankful for now -- whatever it holds -- is the theme. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it! May God richly bless your family as you begin this next leg of your journey. Come back when the timing's right. Of course, email anytime!

  12. Tammy,
I've so missed your postings. I've said this before, our lives are so aligned with the ages of our kids and where we have been. I too like you thought in my 20s I would of had that white picket fence, hubby kids...it's not meant to be. Everything is temporary, and I'm so enjoying where GOD has me right now. Hope your all are having a great summer. Now to dream of when that great god fearing man will arrive on my door step.

    Hugs, Viola

  14. I saw a news report last night where people are living in apartments in NY that are the size of two parking spaces!

    You can do it! lol

I hope you will be able to squeeze in an occasional post; perhaps at least quarterly?

Blessings and best wishes with the new position. I know pleasant surprises are ahead!

  17. It is nice to hear from you. (Always enjoy your pretty images!) Life brings us unexpected turns as you are experiencing. I guess a whole new life for you in many ways. Your creativity will serve you well in the classroom; I'd be happy as a parent to have you teach my child! Hope life surprises you with a very good year in spite of all the changes!

Will watch for a post every now and then I hope!

    Wishing you all the best.

  19. Tammy, wishing you all the best in your new job and your new home. I know you'll roll with the changes and make it all work. Be well and enjoy where you are at. You just never know what might be waiting for you along this new road.

I think you MUST do something like that with your class room. It's fabulous and would make you and the kiddos feel special in your new home away from home.

    Be well.

I will miss you, if I keep blogging, I haven't posted but twice this last month and because I'm so busy with my grandkids, I haven't missed it a lot. But once I'm home again, I will have the time and will need the inspiration.

  30. Oh best wishes to you sweet friend and I wish you the best in your teaching endeavors.
Life just keeps moving fast, whether we blog or not, and you have to do what you have to do!
I have been pretty absent on my blog as well with just too much going on to sit by the computer the way I can during the colder months.

Here is a huge hug for you.
We will miss you and will think of you often.

Come back and visit when you get a chance now and then.

  31. Hi Tammy,

Just checking in on you. I haven't blogged much this summer either. Trying to hang out with my kiddos as much as possible.

Hope all is well with you. Take care :)

  32. Tammy,
Congrats on your new job...I know you will make a GREAT teacher. My daughter taught pre-K for two years and LOVED it (she is now working on her masters degree). Hope you are liking Jackson, and hope you will check in and let us know how you are doing.

    Blessings,
    Linda

  33. Best of luck to you and your husband. I had two babies while my husband was an intern and then resident for five years (and he entered medical school at 31). You will survive! I think its funny that we live in our big fancy home and talk wistfully about those awful early years. Nothing beats a shared goal and journey. Your marriage will be the better for it. I guarantee!

  35. I just had to stop by and check in on you. So glad things are going well for you and your new adventure. You don't know how close to home your statement "live in the moment, life can change" hits. My husband was diagnosed with lung cancer mid July and lost the battle just 25 days later. To say we are shocked and numb is an understatement. Best of luck to you, hold that family close!

  36. Dear Tammy,
I have been absent also but you can keep up with me on my South Shore Mommy Facebook page.

It looks like you're transforming your life.

The classroom looks amazing. You will be a wonderful teacher. The kids will be so fortunate to have a kind and gentle teacher (with a lot of imagination which is also very important).

    Miss you dear friend! :)
