Go for the Bold

Traditional Home

Pattern and color are two things that will draw the eye into a room. For the brave at heart, make it bold.

Below is a bold pattern in pink for Pink Saturday. Have a happy one at How Sweet the Sound
Traditional Home

Bold patterns have been around for years.  Remember when?
unknown source
Snazzy, huh? Ok, that is even painful for me to post.  But look at the fabric pattern.  Would that not be ever so stylish in a smaller dose?

A little bit goes a long ways.
Whether it's a rug, pillow, headboard, artwork, decor piece, light fixture, wall or window treatment or a single piece of furniture - look at how a bold pattern will capture your attention and cause you to focus longer on the space.

A few more pops of pink for Pink Saturday with the pillows, artwork, and books. But the rug is the real attention getter in this show stopping room.

Even a neutral palette is more interesting with bold graphics.

  1. I love these bold patterns! I've been amassing a really fun collection of bold patterned fabric from the remnant bin to make some pillows. I could see the pattern used in that 70s room looking great in a (single)pillow. Thanks for sharing these inspiration pics.

  7. Love all the pretty bold color accents. So fun to see. However, the last picture is more me and something I can live with day to day. Great post. Love it.
Thanks also for your input with my guest bedroom hunt theme. You mentioned you would like a riding hat and boots. I found mine on ebay very reasonable. $10 for the English Velvet riding hat and $15 for the English tall riding boots. You might check it out. Hugs, Marty

  10. I am more of floral girl, but some of these patterns are fantastic. Never much of a fan of lime green in decor either, but the 2 images with it are really neat! Thanks for sharing!

  14. I've been basement 24/7, so I've had little time to comment (in fact, I'm up here getting a glass of water before I start painting the walls), but just wanted to say I the inspiration pictures were great. If I can get the walls done tonight, we can start laying the floor tomorrow, which means hopefully I'll be using this inspiration SOON!!!!!

And was that the "snazzy" pic the 1970s? It'll be back. LOL

  28. Hello sweet B,
I love all of your images today, especially the photo of the bold red in your living room. The orange and brown bedroom is lovely and the Martha Stewart kitchen is very sweet. You have shown me though, how a bold color can bring some interest to a neutral color scheme. Thanks for such an interesting post.
    Love and hugs, Cindy

Oh my gosh what a beautiful share today. You went wild sweet one. I love it.

That black and white room with the pink stool. L-O-V-E, love it. Does that say "Happy" or what?

And that little girls room. How elegant and fun it is. I love the headboard, along with the turquoise walls. What a beautiful contrast. It is so elegant. A dream for any little girl.

I have the perfect place for that grandfather clock. I can hear it chiming already. How gorgeous that is.

Have a gorgeous weekend sweetie. Thank you so much for sharing today. I have so enjoyed my visit. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  31. I'm too timid to be bold! But I sure do admire those that can pick bold colors for their walls and striking patterns for their furniture fabric. I play it safe every time!
    Happy Pink Saturday,

  33. Bold and beautiful, indeed. My favorite was the bedroom set with the child sitting on it. Perfect for grandparents who's grandchildren visit occasionally. A bed for company, and a library the rest of the time. Delightful. And lovely for Pink Saturday. :)

  43. I'm always impressed by people that can make the color purple work in their home. That is such a risky color and didn't always work.
