Fall Back

Fall back plans. Always nice to have them.
Unfortunately, we did not have one with our computer. We just bought a new hard drive. It was sitting in the box next to our old one.

The doc ordered some study books for his boards and has been anxiously awaiting their arrival. He received an email from "Fed Ex" saying we tried to deliver your package, please respond.

He has never opened a virus. In fact, he is always cleaning up the messes my son and I make. But in one click of the mouse, poof. Our whole computer was wiped out. I had some very important photos on there which I hadn't backed up yet. It made me want to cry.

Thankfully, we have a computer whiz friend who is coming over to try to retrieve things. In the grand scheme of life, I couldn't stay upset for long. These things happen. Lesson learned. Always back up your files.
It made me think how there are no back up plans for some things. Like losing those you love. In the past few weeks, several of our friends have lost spouses and loved ones. Gone.

Think I'll go wrap my arms around my hubby and tell him how blessed I am to have him, pictures or no pictures.

Life is sweet.

I'm hitting the road. Going to help Mrs. T with her house again. We are secretly planning our decor execution plans while the Mr. is at work. hehe (They both read this blog so just had to say that.)

I'll be away from the computer but will catch up with you when I return.

Have a great week and don't forget to to have a "Fall Back" plan!

  1. I'm not sure what scares me more...the virus, or the thought of board exams (shivers). I had a two day, 16 hours medical board exam before grad'ing and it was, ummmm, not fun.

  2. Sorry about your loss! It does feel that way...I know because I've lived through it! Thankfully we had someone who fixed what was broken, and we are living happily afterwards! Let's hope you retrieve it all back too! Loved your fall pics. Have a good week. Hugs!

  6. I love the images of fall - my favorite time to visit my sister in Pennsylvania is in October when the leaves change color. We rarely see that here in Florida.

  8. Our hard drive just died to. Just a black screen I think. I didn't have pics on there but hubby and kids had all their ipod music on there. We are going to buy a new hard drive as well as that is the computer the kids type up papers on. DOn't want them near my laptop.

  9. I have to tell you that I'm really happy to hear you sound so relaxed. You seem to have a lightness in your writing that was missing before you moved. I think the blogging break and relocation have made you happier. :o)

I haven't posted in almost a week. I've tried to think of something but am completely stumped. I was afraid this might happen and sure enough it did. Have fun with your friend!

  12. LOL as I just plugged in my back up, We depend on technology so much, yet without it we're ok and the better things in life come much more to focus. Have fun decorating, meanwhile these fall photos are beautiful!

  13. I guess it is important to have a fall back plan. We have never had a virus, thank the Lord and we have had computers for twenty years now.
I'm sorry that it had to happen to you. So sorry to hear that your friends have lost spouses, that would be so difficult.n I hope you gave your hubby a great big hug after writing that.
Have fun decorating and spending someone elses' money, that would be the best part, I think.
Have a great week my friend,
    Love and hugs, Cindy

  14. Tammy, so sorry about your lost files and pics. Will keep my fingers crossed that something can be recovered. I had a computer crash a year or so ago and, luckily, had almost everything backed up. I lost a few pics though, and it makes you heartsick, but in the grand scheme of things ... it's all good.

    Have fun while you're away.

  15. So sorry to hear about your computer. That does remind me...I need to back mine up. I have not in awhile. I should have an external drive to back up to but don't. I just have been too short on funds. So I back up everything to DVDs. Very time consuming. Yes, be thankful you still have your loved ones. I am thankful all the time...but the last two months have just about done me in.

  19. That is so terrible. I feel like backing up this computer RIGHT NOW. I have a mac and it is a bit better. I lost all my portfolio photos three years ago on my last PC...I can't get the photos again. Learned my lesson. Love your Fall photos

  21. We must have clicked on the same thing because my hard drive went POOF too! And we had bought a back up plan... plugged it in and thought it was backing up my computer every Tuesday. We looked on it and discovered NOTHING was saved in 2011!!! Oh noooooo! My hubby says there is a computer program you can buy that will scan your hard drive, fix the problem so you can retrieve the photos/files etc on the old hard drive. I think I might try it. Best of luck!
