Good Impressions
The vote is in from my last post.
2 to 1 in favor of installing a new light fixture in the foyer. It'll have to be a bargain at this point. Guess I'll go look this weekend. Sorry to drag this thing out. I've figured out it's harder to make a small space look right than it is a large one.
I saved the above photo because I have a lantern light on my porch and a transom window above the door. Here they used the same style, yet different fixtures inside and out and it still looks nice. I'm leaning towards something simple like the lantern.
If I wasn't selling the house, I'd go for something funky, like one of these chinoiserie fixtures or something in red.
But I don't want to scare potential buyers when they walk in the door. Not even sure if it'd look right. Just a fancy I have. It'd be memorable though. "Remember the house with the red light fixture?"
We want good first impressions. I'd say these all fit that category.
Wish me luck.
Happy shopping,Tammy!
ReplyDeleteTry the Habitat for Humanity Restore in your area, if it is a good one. Our Restore always has great foyer lights that could be really beautiful with an updated finish (ORB rather than shiney brass, for instance).
ReplyDeleteTammy, I'm sure you'll make an excellent choice!
ReplyDeleteYou will make a great choice...you've got good taste. I thought the Restore idea was a good one. Ours has all sorts of stuff. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHave fun shopping! I have no doubt that you'll find something great.
ReplyDeleteAs always, your choices are straight on...and in this case, you will fair well my friend! Luv
ReplyDeleteThe lantern itself will be such an updated look, it won't need to be funky. So I think you can do this blindfolded!!
ReplyDeletehope you find just what you're needing!
ReplyDeleteWishing you luck, I'm sure you can find something to transform...Yep, I am digging the red one LOL!

ReplyDeleteI love the lantern type fixtures, I hope you can find one to look good with the one on your porch, that would be very nice, I think.

Good luck and BEAUTIFUL photos.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I love the red I think that you are wise to stay within a neutral palette.
