Galley Kitchens Looking Grand

Galley kitchens usually make me run the other way when house hunting.  You know what they say. Kitchens sell a house.
A lot of cooking took place in ours over the weekend which reminded me why I like a spacious one. We have an island which makes it impossible for two people to cook at the same time.
But...these little gems are so pretty, I might be tempted to ignore the obvious if I saw one on a house hunt.

Could you live with a galley kitchen?

I think you can live with whatever life brings you. There are some good points to an alley kitchen--less walking, convenience of closeness to things. How about that ladder kitchen? I could see me trying to climb down that treacherous thing with a pile of plates. It may have been for the "look" and not too practical. Ooh-la-la to the green kitchen with the arch. That looks very ample for working. Lovely to visit today!

Well I had to really look at the kitchen that had some grass green walls, and oodles of school house light fixtures and all...it was quite nice!

Wow, those are really beautiful kitchens! Since I'm in the start of our kitchen reno and have all the things picked out I still like to look and compare. :-) Have a great day! Pamela

These are some seriously wonderful kitchens! Oh I'd take any one of them. But I love the big huge window in the second one :)

Tammy, I have what I would call a galley kitchen, and it's got to be the smallest one ever. It does have a built in spot sort of a bar area, with lots of counter space I really need to utilize better. My Husband always seems to be in the way , it's that small, but, I've learned to live with what I have. The photos you shared are entirely inspiring!

I'm sorry I haven't come to thank you before on your lovely visit and wonderful comments on my Pink tablescape! Blogger was having issues! I love a galley kitchen, if they look like these ones! Wow! Even though I have a great newly re- modeled, not so big, kitchen, I think these are great! I do prefer one with an island to both cook on either side, though.
Lots of hugs.

Beautiful images, Tammy. I really love the first and fifth pics. I could definitely stand those two!!! Would have to change the "submarine" cage lights in the first pic, tho! :0)

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

They do look very pretty...but I'd still be trying to figure out what wall I could knock out if they were too narrow! lol I just posted a little bit of my kitchen! The floor! lol! ♥

Haha...I could so live with a galley kitchen if it was brand spanking new like these photos! Every one of them is a keeper. I'm looking forward to the day (if it ever comes) when I can ditch my old appliances and get new ones. In 30 years of marriage I have never had a "new" kitchen. I guess if that's all I have to complain about I'm pretty lucky. :o) Happy Tuesday...great post as always. ~Ann

I did live with a galley kitchen size but it only had cabinetry, sink and stove on one side and a row of windows on the other. Long and skinny....we made do. I like having a more traditional shaped kitchen now, although it is still fairly small and short on countertop.

You found some cute ones that are way more functional than my current kitchen.

I have a large galley kitchen at the lake and I love it. I sometimes wish for an island but it's great to have things close at hand, too. These are some wonderful images...I love them all!

I'm lvinin with one and you know it. Yes, I'd prefer a larger kitchen. I love square rooms and when I was house shopping there was a house in my neighborhood that had a wonderful square kitchen. But it cost more than this house and I could not afford it. Plus there were things I liked better about this house. I don't need anything larger than my galley kitchen and I have a friend in the neighborhood whose galley kitchen is about half the size of mine and I adore it because it's very high end. She hates it though...and wishes to have my larger one all the time. I'd rather have her high end cabinets, granite and stainless over my larger.

But....as you know I have been changing my kitchen up in small ways that make me like it much much more. But yes...I'd like an island. But some things are not meant to be.

Forgot to say I adore all these examples. I think a galley kitchen is actually very practical and can be just as beautiful as any big kitchen. All in all...I really can't complain. And I like galley kitchens just because they are so vintage too. But my these kitchens are so fantastic. I wouldn't complain if mine was as pretty as these.

So pretty Tammy!
I especially love the one with the green walls.
THAT was amazing!
I know our next place will probably have a galley kitchen. We will be downsizing in a big way once the kids are both off to college.

(My son graduates this weekend...!) We will probably start house hunting in 3 or 4 years from now I am sure!
Great post.

I could totally handle a galley kitchen like the ones you feature. WOW! They say it is the most efficient layout for professional cooks. Nice job.

Thanks! I enjoyed the eye candy.

Oh, WOW! That first kitchen especially fools the eye and makes you think it is far bigger than it is. If I could have one of these options...yes, I could definitely live with a galley kitchen!

I'd be wonderfully happy with any of those kitchens! I have been wanting a new kitchen for soooo long....my husband keeps saying it will come soon! In the meantime, I'll just be drooling over these images!

They are all so pretty! I would imagine it would work for 1 or 2 people but once the kids start coming in, all bets are off!

I could live in any of those kitchens! Gorgeous. It actually reminds me that I need a new rug for my kitchen!

Beautiful galley kitchens, but for me I need much more space especially with kids. Great spaces for 1 or 2 people though.

I could live in a galley kitchen if it had enough storage, counterspace, and wasn't a through passage. So as pretty as that last one is with the door out to the garden, I just couldn't do it. I'd need a dead end where nobody would be walking through messing with my flow. Beautiful images! Thanks for sharing.

I'm pretty flexible, but I DO love to have a spacious kitchen with an island. You have some great examples, really pretty. Always love the light and bright! Thanks for linking up with VIF!

When you think about it the kitchen is the most important place of a house next to the bedrooms. It's where you prepare and eat your food. It has to be nice in order for you to relax and enjoy your meal.
