Oh the Places We Have Been

When we started planning the Doc's graduation party, we knew we wanted a laid back and casual event. That's his style.

I won Melanie's ( My Sweet Savannah,) fabulous giveaway from Minted and was able to order these adorable invitations. Aren't they the cutest?

We went with a vintage twist and tried to give it a masculine touch.

I noticed a popular theme for graduation parties has been Dr. Seuss' "Oh the places we will go."  After 26 years of education (since kindergarten,) somehow it didn't seem to fit! Been there, done that.
A collection of his work badges through the years.
My sweet man has really done it the hard way. No silver spoon, just flat out hard work. From maintenance (cleaning floors in OR) to scrub tech to nurse to Physician Assistant to M.D.
He worked his buns off! (grins)

On the menu- BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, pickles, potato salad, fruit salad, mac n cheese and baked beans.

For appetizers- pinwheels, sausage cheddar balls, cheddar cheese and cracker assortment.

I always overdo it on the food. But my motto is "better to have too much than not enough." We gave a lot of it away and still have been eating leftovers for a week. It was delish.

Next post will be all about the shuga!

Such a lovely buffet...the little tags are just adorable. I usually run out of time at the end and don't bother with the little touches. You did a great job on those. Seems there is always too much food though...I do the same thing. Hope you are having a nice weekend and not working too hard around your house. I have hosed down my deck and back porch. Still so much to do. My deck table splintered into a zillion pieces when I dropped the umbrella on it. So I need to find a new table. :o( I've learned my lesson and I'm definitely not going with a glass top table again! Take care...

Tammy, this is all so clever. I love the suitcase full of buns with the various badges. I think it's great that the Doc has saved each of those badges with all the moves you guys have made. Great details for a clever theme. Thanks for sharing more of the party.

You really outdid yourself. Perhaps you should do this professionally? I can't believe he finally graduated...it seems like only yesterday that you were talking about him in school and that he had another two years. Time flies even if you aren't having fun.

Oh yum! Sausage cheese balls are my favorite. I bet the Doc will be the best around! He has way more experience than the average Doc!

A big congratulations to the Mr. I love hearing stories of how perseverance pays off.

The party was adorable. I also like the blue and white drapes in the room. Are those custom?

OMGoodness, Tammy, you did a LOT of work on this!!! I have read all of the party posts and am in awe of your abilities. You must have made your man very happy with all of it. He deserves it after 26 YEARS of schooling, and to think that he isn't finished yet!? The food looks and sounds amazing!

I also tend to overdo it with food. I think though that if there is any extra food people can just take it on.
