Motherhood Is Like A Cupcake

Via
Mother's Day is a cupcake kind of day.
Wishing all the moms a sweet day!

The first thing I learned about being a mom is-
if there's only one cupcake, you don't get it.

Yesterday, I had a little pity party in honor of myself.
Should have celebrated with cupcakes but didn't think of it.
Via

I was thinking of the "sacrifices" I'm making for my family.
That sounds greedy, just like hogging an entire plate of cupcakes to myself.

I can't say I've completely snapped out if yet, but the guilt is there.

I guess sometimes guilt is pleasurable.

It helps to remind yourself that life is not all about you.  If you look hard enough, you'll find little sprinkles of joy all around you.

My wonderful hubby has been reminding the kids that it's Mother's Day weekend.  So, early this morning my 5 year old climbed into bed, snuggled next to me and began to sing, "Happy Mother's Day to you.." to the tune of the birthday song. Talking about melting my heart and making me feel small all in one moment!
This little cupcake could not contain all the sprinkles.

Being a mom has those moments of unexpected happiness.  Small sweet surprises that fill my heart, just like a nice pop of delicious cupcake filling.

Today, I'll have my motherhood with a cherry on the top, please.

Speaking of sweets, I just won a very sweet giveaway by Stacy's Shabby Shoppe!  Two Mary Englebreit flags.

She also sent me a vintage ballerina cupcake topper!  I love it. Thank you Stacy!

According to Stacy, I can have my cake and it eat it too!
I think I will.

Hey Tammy...enjoy your kids. Mine are off living their own lives. I'm glad about that but I do miss them. The time you have with your kids is so precious...and it goes by so quickly. Happy Mother's Day! ~Ann P.S. I was having my own pity party yesterday...I'm a bit better today. I just keep telling myself life is good. Sometimes it's better than others...

Oh honey we have all had these thoughts. I have had babies in my twenties, thirties and one in my forties and when you are in the thick of it, it gets overwhelming sometimes. I used to say they were sucking the life out of me at times. My little leeches. Now I am more mellow and laid back about things. Oh well. Like wine, we mellow with age. I look back and realize with my older ones that all the time and things I gave up were worth it. They really need you to guide them at all stages. Let them spoil you this weekend and have a wonderful Mother's day.

You wouldn't be a good mother if you didn't feel guilt sometimes. We all do it. Sometimes we have to take instead of give because we are giving all the time. I remember how hard it was with little ones {and it doesn't get easier once they are big ones}, but they always manage to brighten our days one way or another.

Your cupcakes are beautiful and I love your win. Happt Mother's Day, Tammy!

XO,
Jane

Ah, your little one singing Happy Mother's Day... SO SWEET! Treasure that moment especially when you are feeling sad. My boys are 18 and 16... and my 18 year old handed me a Starbucks card one day this week and said, "Happy Mother's Day Mom, I don't remember when it is but didn't want to be late!" That melted my heart too!!

What a cute post! I love to make cupcakes but they're NEVER as fancy as these delicious looking examples. So much easier than making a cake! And more fun to decorate!

Happy Mother's Day Sweetie...
What a gorgeous share today. You know being a Momma, some days we just need those little pity parties, and that is okay. Then when the sprinkles stop by, they are that much sweeter to us.

I love the 5 year old waking you up and singing. How priceless is that? Just precious sweetie.

I hope you enjoy that cherry on top day today. You SO deserve it sweetie. You are one of the most loving and giving bloggers I have met.

Happy Mother's Day. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

What a sweet post about motherhood - I think you really hit the nail on the head! Thank you.

It's nice to know I'm not alone in having days where I feel it's all about my "sacrifices" and then something happens and puts everything into perspective...I guess that's just being human.

Hope you're having a lovely week. :O)

Beautiful photos! I hope you enjoyed your special day. It's difficult when kids are older and have their own lives, etc. Of course, that's the way it's supposed to be isn't it? :-)
I had a wonderful day and feel so blessed!

Enjoy them while they're small ~ time flies.
