Color

Are you a fan of bold colors in your decor?  I must admit an all white room shows up in my dreams often...

...but adding color just makes me smile.

Last week I went to help friends decorate their new house. They knew from the start they wanted color and lots of it.  She loves red. He loves blue.  Marrying his shade of blue with her shade of red was a little more challenging than I anticipated.  He likes a medium blue and wants it to be very visible in the room. We were able to find a nice shade which will blend well with the blue-gray family that is so popular and abundant right now.
Mrs. T spotted this rug at Tuesday Morning's. Love at first sight. After that, everything else fell in place.

He likes bold and she likes toned down. We spent a full day just choosing fabrics. Here's a sneak peek of fabric choices.  I think it's going to be beautiful.

Mrs. T and I had some girl time- shopped til we dropped.  It was a fun!
She's going to try her hand at painting this buffet and maybe one or two other pieces.

I left her with a full page "to do" list. We'll get back together in a week or two to put everything together. I will be anxious to show you the reveal.
These are some of our inspiration photos. She is thinking of doing red wicker chairs in breakfast room but is undecided. I say yes. Love them.

I suppose I need to work on my own "to do" list. It's probably as long as hers.
Why is it so easy to tell someone else what to do?  hmmm...

You always have the best photos for inspiration. Love each and every one of them and I'd die happy if I found that flowered rug. It would be perfect in my craft room. *sigh*

I am lucky, I suppose, in that my hubby doesn't have any decor opinions whatsoever, so it's anything goes for me. It can be frustrating, though, when I'm undecided and really would like his opinion =) I love what you've chosen for them!

How fun that must have been to pick fabrics for someone else. It always seems easier to do than picking something for myself! I love what you two chose, and I am anxious to see how it all turns out!

Hello dear friend,
What fun! I would love to do help someone redecorate from the fabrics up. The rug and the fabrics that you two found are fabulous, they will be so wonderful together, I cannot wait for the reveal. Her buffet is so beautiful, it will be gorgeous in a beautiful color. Those red wicker chairs are scrumptious, aren't they!!! I am excited for you, what a fun activity!
It is always easier to see someone elses home redecorated than it is to see our own, perhaps because we won't be living with the end product? Not sure, I know I change my mind so much that nothing ever stays the same for long.
Have a lovely day!
Love and hugs, Cindy

I think it's easier to make choices for someone else because it's not you making the commitment (or spending the money!) I totally love your fabrics. Especially the mix of patterns. I'm a sucker for fun fabric though. Where did you get them? I'm glad you are back. I missed you. Have a good week!

Though I've been neutralizing our den, I love color and think it adds so much to an all white room. you just need a splash or two, as you say, for that smile!

I love color too, Tammy. Love the whites as well but never last too long without adding some color to them. Have you seen my page? Always red and aqua, my two favorite colors.
PS-I vote yes on the red wicker chairs. Perfect.

I am a lover of color also.Although I am attracted to lots of white I have to have color in my world and I definitely have to have touches of black and white to the mix. Love where you are going with your friends color and pattern mix. You are spot on!!! It is always much easier to choose for others, we don't have the same emotional base going on when choosing for ourselves. One of the down sides for being a designer, we know what is possible, but sometimes do not have the resources to make it happen in our own lives. Love your blog, just found you through Ann at Sutton's place!! Having fun perusing your past post, Kathysue

I like, you have become so infatuated with whites, but whites done right. You first picture is perfection!

I love colour, but mostly in other people's homes, not for myself! I love the rug and fabrics and am looking forward to the finished product. x Sharon

I am a lover of color and each of my rooms is painted a different color. No white walls for me!!
I love to look at white rooms on blogs but for me personally, I would get too bored with just plain white.
I always find it interesting when guys voice what color they like or what style they like. My Hubby could not care less what I do in our house as long as he is not the one doing it. So I have free run when it comes to decorating and I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Hugs,
Deb

What a fun project! I love color, although sometimes I fantasize about the all-white rooms I see in Blogland. I know they would never work for me longterm, though. Can't wait to see your friend's house. You're off to a great start!

I'm going to start my own to-do list as soon as this weekend's event is behind me!
