The Recliner

This is another one of my chairs- the recliner.  When I ordered a Queen Ann recliner in white leather with nail heads back in the 90's, I got some looks.
But I knew what I wanted. It has held up well, other than having one of the sides re-bolted a few years ago.
I don't know what the doc would do if we didn't have a recliner. It's sort of his go-to chair in the living room.  I keep warning him that some day it'll have to go.  He's clinging to it as long as he can.

But recliners have come a long ways.  I may not be opposed to getting another one.

Love the blue color of that one!

I could see this cowhide in a library.

And in case you missed it, look what Mimi of Blue Roof Cabin did!
Isn't that the most adorable recliner ever?

Yes, recliners can even be dainty and pretty.

I may not show my husband this post! But what a transformation the fellow blogger did! Such talent and persistance, I would say!

I don't but I have been thinking about it. Hubby's chair need to be replaced and I wouldn't mind getting one if it wasn't too huge. That one Mimi did is amazing. They certainly look much better nowadays then they did when my father had one!

I have a blue one just like your white one and it is in the guest room. We bought it in the 90's. They have come a long way. I love the newer one we got in 2001.

I love your recliner! That's a keeper for sure.

Your recliner was a great choice for the 90's, it's style has stayed current. Good call on that!
Oh, the blue one is very dreamy, wouldn't that be wonderful!

Gorgeous recliner - I'm all for comfort and looking pretty - and your chair fits your classic, comfy approach to decorating! Love your other picks, too!

In the past I have been totally against them. But some of these are not half bad. I like the way your's looks. I could live with that. Still I've always said I'd never have one...then I sat in a friend's movie room...she has four for watching movies in and I have to say that it was pretty comfortable. Most men love them. But my father was totally against them and would not allow one in his house. Mom brought one home that someone gave her and he threw a fit and wanted it gone. She moved it to my sister's room.

We don't but i like yours, timeless! I do love them but over the years of having them with kids, they always got broken..they are so compfy though! :D

Hey sweet lady,
Yes, as a matter of fact we have two recliners and they are both ugly. We won't go there.
I love your beautiful white recliner, you were ahead of your time when you ordered that. The other recliners are ones I could probably live with and the one that someone made a slip cover for, why didn't I think of that? I could have saved myself $1200.00!!!
Have a lovely day my friend,
Hugs and love, Cindy

I have two leather recliners that look like nice club chairs. We have two leather recliners that look like mission style and we have a wingback recliner...in leather. I just realized that we have five leather recliners! Crazy

Yes, it has stood the test of time, and it keeps on ticking! LOL. I've enjoyed seeing the different models you've posted...gives me some ideas. However, I'm still enjoying mine...maybe a bit more use then, I'll be ready for a newer model! Thanks for sharing! Hugs

Hi Tammy, I don't have a Recliner, but we do have two favorite chairs we sit on each day, "mama and papa" hehe
Your recliner has certainly held up well!
I love using slipcovers too but I'm one to reupholster as well. The smart thing you did was choose a style that is classic, and will always be "in" well done, and wonderful post!

Hey thank you for the mention, what a nice surprise ;) I think your recliner is waaaay nicer than mine was. It would look super cute with a drop cloth slipcover, maybe with a cute little skirt..... Thanks again!

It really is amazing how far recliners have come over the years! Yours is so timeless and classic and I can see why your hubby loves it. The nailhead trim is fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing this with us at Inspiration Friday this week!

I like your white one. It looks great where you have it. We have two recliners in the man cave. One for The Man, one for The Dog. Seriously. LOL!

I love your recliner! Just the perfect colour as you can add any colour to add a dimmension, such a timeless piece!

No, Tammy, I don't have room for a recliner. If I did though, I would want one just like yours. That's a gorgeous chair! Thank you so much for your visit to my new blog. Your blog is beautiful and I can't wait to explore it further. Thanks too for your comment. I raised two sons. My DIL is the daughter I never had, but always wanted. I fell in love with her the minute I met her. We are very close. I had "the other kind" of MIL, and decided a long time ago, when my boys were little, that I would treat my DIL(s) the way I wished to be treated, with love, care, and kindness. Sometimes my son thinks I love Jen more than him! They are truly one, so I love them equally. :)

Your recliner is beautiful! I hope that we can get something like one of these one day, right now mine is covered by a drop cloth slip cover, which works. I love recliners too, especially in front of my fireplace. :)

Our 14 year old Lab has a LaZBoy recliner. She will occasionally share it with us but it's her chair.

Recliners are pretty snazzy these days. Yours is really nice looking too. I'm so glad they don't look like they used to back in the day..whew ...ugly!

Oh, yes...Mr. Sweet would fall over in a dead faint if I brought one of these adorable ones into our living room for HIM. He, like most men, like the MAN CAVE type recliner..he likes his to rock and to swivel...and I hate them with a passion. I love love love that one that's slipcovered in white.:)

Well, I love your recliner. I don't blame your husband for trying to hang on to it.

Amy Chalmers said...

Well it looks very current! good for you, I love making a choice that doesn't get dated, and looks like you did that well with the recliner. Kind of perfect for Mod Mix Monday, as it seems tres cool in the white leather!

We used to have two wonderful recliners. I miss them. They are so nice to relax in. I love putting my legs on. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the week-end. Linda

Yep, sitting in one right now with the mutts. With a bad back, a recliner seems a necessity. I love that they're starting to look so pretty too.

Your chair is still beautiful! I used to really dislike them...that was in the days of the "old, huge chair" style and very masculine. They've changed a lot and some of the smaller, more feminine chairs are very tempting. I do have to say that one's back is really helped when sitting/lying in one regularly. :-)

Your white one is very pretty. I used to have a burgundy Lane recliner just like your white one, but we sold it. It became dated because of the color. It didn't work with my decor any more. Now we have a chair and ottoman. Thanks for stopping by my blog and visiting today too.

Susanne said...

You've found some nice recliners and that make over is amazing but I'm still an ottoman kinda gal, ha!

Of course I have a recliner...I think most men insist on it. My husband would probably not come home if I did something with his chair! Ours is brown leather. Very predictable but he likes it. I love your white. When I saw it in your living room post a few weeks ago I didn't even know it was a recliner. So that's a good thing! Hope all is well with you and yours...

I have the same recliner, white leather, nail heads, except when my Mom purchased it she special ordered the legs to be painted antique white. My Mom passed away 7 years ago and it's mine now. I am moving out of state soon and it is one of only a few pieces that will go with me. Not only do I love the looks of it but it has special sentimentality for me.

Hi I have a white leather recliner that we love. It's in the bedroom right next to the big window. I just cleaned it last night & used a carpet cleaner. It worked great & is on my blog today. K

We don't have one and I don't know why. I guess my husband never asked for one, and I never gave it any thought. Yours is still stylish, as are the ones you featured. Can't get over the one Mimi transformed. It doesn't even look like the same chair!

We have brown leather recliners...and wouldn't trade them for any other chair! So comfy at the end of the day! ♥

Cindy @ Dwellings-The Heart of Your Home said...

We don't have a recliner, though I LOVE the first one with the gray upholstry and nail heads! My hubby loves his chair and 1/2 with ottoman...it works very well!

Zane Wooder said...

I didn't think I would but I actually like the look of the nails in the chairs. It's just a lot different then most of the chairs you see these days.
