Delicious!!

Yes, cornbread and milk are almost as good as...
Via

Chocolate chip cookies are the best but a glass of crumbled cornbread in milk is a close 2nd. A southern thing I suppose. Have you heard of it? A discussion I had with BJ from Sweet Nothings prompted me to write this post. She doesn't like soggy cornbread but guess what she does like? Fritos and milk.

Do you like any strange food combinations?

Here's a good cornbread recipe. (Click on the link)

I had not heard of the soggy cornbread; even though I've lived in the south longer than anywhere else, I am not a southerner. But cookies and milk? Yes! Currently I'm eating soft boiled eggs in grits for breakfast. Not bad.

I like milk with just about anything and I LOVE cornbread. Sometimes I spread a little grape jelly on it ~ weird? I don't really like grape jelly on anything else.

I have never hear of this. I'm not crazy about anything soggy, I don't even like to dunk my cookies in milk, but I would enjoy the cornbread on its own.

I made cornbread last night. I love it smothered in butter. I like to eat 3 scrambled egg whites mixed with salsa.

Tammy, this is too funny! I never ate it...but, my dear, sweet Grandpa LOVED that combination. I'm a Southern girl; but it was just too weird for me! LOL!

Cornbread and milk? That's not strange. Just a normal southern snack--usually Sunday evening. Cornbread, southern style (meaning no sugar), is also good crumbled into buttermilk. I have left my southern roots long enough to admit that I like sweet cornbread.

Here's my (and my two sisters) strange food combos. As children, we liked dill pickles with devil's food cake!

Best,
Bonnie

Totally agree! I can eat cornbread as dessert. I also like to use corn meal in other recipes to give cake or cookies a rough texture. ~ Sarah

I love cornbread but have never tried it with milk, might have to do that.
When I was little I used to put gravy on my Jello. A bit of salty and sweet I guess. :)

I love anything soggy...I love those little dessert cakes (sort of like a twinkie without the cream) with milk. I have never tried the cornbread but just might have to. Fritos? Not so much! Hope your week is going great. We are maybe going to get some snow in the next day or so. Our first of the season. Seems wierd to be in mid-January and no snow!

My husband LOVES cornbread and milk. I have not even tried it. I like my cornbread hot and buttered not in milk.

My southern lady great-grandmother taught me about cornbread and milk and cornbread for breakfast! I also like crunchy Italian bread-sticks in milk. I use the bread-stick like a straw to get milk all inside of it. YUM!

Oh, I love cornbread and milk and I am from Cali. But have southern friends. The weird food combo my daughter and I share is red onion and sharp cheddar cheese. yummm, the cheese cuts the harshness of the onion but the combo is wonderful. Jsut remember to eat it when you wont' be around others for a day or two. cuz the breath is really bad. Or eat it with your signifiant other and no one gets hurt!

I love cornbread, but never tried it in milk. My mom used to make us bowls bananas in orange juice when we were kids for breakfast. That's kinda strange now that I think of it...

Yummy!!! I love cornbread, it's one of my most favorite things to eat. I make it fairly often. My late father was from Illinois and after a meal of beans and cornbread, he always ate his last piece of cornbread in a glass of fresh cow's milk. I didn't know other people liked it that way, though.
Do you make it often? I learned to make it in a cast iron frying pan when I spent some time in Arkansas, so that is how I make it always.
Have a wonderful evening, my friend.
Love and hugs, Cindy
